STADA — Designing a modular website system for healthcare products
STADA is a leading European pharmaceutical company. The team was tasked with creating a modular website system that could be reused across multiple healthcare brands, making it easier to launch new product websites while maintaining consistency, accessibility and efficiency.
Client: STADA
Role: Digital Designer
Deliverables: Website module system.
Brief
Design a flexible library of reusable website modules that worked within STADA's existing brand system and could be applied consistently across multiple healthcare product websites.
Objective
Build reusable modules that could adapt to different products and content requirements.
Create a scalable website system that reduced design and production time.
Maintain visual consistency across the wider STADA portfolio while allowing each website to retain its own identity.
Improve efficiency without compromising usability or accessibility.
Challenge
STADA manages a large portfolio of healthcare brands, each requiring its own website while maintaining consistency across the wider organisation.
The challenge wasn't simply to design reusable website modules. It was to create a flexible system that could adapt to different products, audiences and content requirements without losing visual consistency or slowing production time.
Designing for scale, not individual websites.
Rather than designing individual websites, we developed a flexible library of reusable sections, layouts, hero banners and interface components that could be combined in different ways depending on the needs of each product.
The system was designed around flexibility and consistency, allowing the same components to support multiple healthcare brands while maintaining a cohesive user experience. By separating structure from content, teams could build new websites more efficiently without repeatedly solving the same design problems.
Because the modules were designed to be flexible, the system could be reused across future product launches without redesigning core layouts. This significantly reduced design and production time while making it easier for teams to maintain consistency as the portfolio continued to grow.
Reducing Design Time
Core wireframes, sitemaps and layout patterns were established within the system, removing the need to redesign common structures for every new website launch. Teams could focus on adapting content rather than rebuilding interfaces, reducing production time by roughly half while maintaining consistency, accessibility and quality.
Using the modular library, I supported the launch of over 15 STADA product websites, demonstrating how a scalable design system can accelerate delivery while maintaining consistency across the wider portfolio.
Outcome & Impact
The modular system has since supported the launch of more than 50 STADA Group websites, demonstrating how a flexible design system can scale efficiently across a large healthcare portfolio.
By creating reusable components instead of individual page designs, the project established a consistent foundation that enabled faster website production while maintaining a cohesive user experience across multiple brands.
Reflection
This project reinforced that effective design systems aren't about creating more components, they're about creating the right components. By balancing flexibility with consistency, the system made it easier for teams to scale confidently without compromising quality or usability.
